Aftermarket Sensor Installation

You can datalog a number of aftermarket sensors with ECMLink. These primarily include pressure sensors, temperature sensors, and wideband kits. For a complete list of supported sensors, visit the supported sensors page.

The following is a high-level overview of the process of connecting an aftermarket sensor to the ECU for logging. Regardless of which sensor is being used, the basic process for installation is almost always the same.

  1. You start by installing the sensor according to the manufacturer's installation instructions. This will include running power and ground and whatever else the sensor needs to get.
  2. Once that's done and the sensor appears to be installed and working properly, you select an available input on the ECU to which you will connect the sensor's output.
  3. You disconnect the factory sensor that was providing signal data to the ECU on the selected line and then connect your new sensor's output instead. Locate the sensor's output from the manufacturer's installation instructions. You will be looking for a 0-5v analog output of some sort.
  4. Once that's done, go into the ECU Inputs tab and assign the sensor to an input pin for logging (be sure to hit “Save Pin Assignments” after making a change to the pin assignments). Once you've done that, you can add the sensor to the ECU's list of things to log by pulling up the Captured Values dialog (F10).
